For years I worked in the corporate world, as advertising executive, sales manager and strategic marketing consultant.
My focus has always been on the revenue side (marketing and sales). My industry experience ranges from construction to hi-tech, and from advertising to aviation and aerospace.
I began my business life as account manager at D'arcy Advertising (Publicis Groupe).
Along the way, I built a B2B sales team from start-up to $260 million for a large federal agency, managed construction projects from pouring the foundation to closing the last sale...and collaborated with aerospace engineers pushing the limits of aviation technology.
While content strategy and copywriting have been key elements in everything I've done, they were never my primary value offering. That changed last year.
Combining the best of all those years of diverse experience, I founded Jack Zimmanck.com to help forward-looking businesses clearly communicate their unique value to clients, prospects, and stakeholders.
As a life-long business writer, I've written countless stories, articles, blog posts, web pages, advertising copy, email campaigns, newsletters, case studies, white papers, and sales proposals...You get the idea.
Outside of business, my writings range from technical articles on aircraft design and engineering, to sustainable business growth and the occasional science fiction story.
In my (much) younger days, I played the infield in the American Legion baseball league, was a reasonably competitive racquetball player, and an avid snow skier.
I've been designing and building competition-winning model aircraft since grade school. In fact, my first paid writing gig was a 1996 cover story for Model Airplane News.
As a confirmed gear-head, I've spent countless hours under the hood of Mustangs, Chevys, and Jeeps. These days I am the caretaker of a 25 year old Jeep 4x4.
I have a BA in Marketing Communications / Journalism from Southern Illinois University.
While at SIU, I had the privilege of taking courses in advanced problem-solving led by internationally recognized futurist, R. Buckminster (Bucky) Fuller.
And yes...Bucky's lectures were full of the same run-on sentences so familiar to his readers, but his brilliant insights were well worth the concentration.
Just for the record, I'm told that my sense of humor tends toward the ironic, though ironically, I'm not quite sure what that means.
